Continuation of the brain and heart theme. I'm pushing myself to draw even when I'm not sure what to do.

There are some things that are best left unsaid if nothing else will sprout from it. But it's nice to take a new meaning and make it your own. Happy Thursday!

I drew this in exchange for a lovely library lamp. For inspiration I went through the owner's Pinterest and was happy to learn of his eclectic taste but most of all to discover the history of plague doctors who wore crow masks. Took a few tries to execute a chola plague doctor but I feel this is a decent launching point. Will revisit the theme in the future.

I don't know why I felt like combining these bones and organs together today but here they are. To me it looks like a skeleton cheer leader. :)

I took to a larger paper today and stretched out my lines. It was a time to abstract ideas I was holding on to as too precious a thing.

This is a failed attempt and I wasn't going to post it. However, I had to remind myself that part of the purpose of this project is to not stop the process because a drawing doesn't come out perfect or in the way I envisioned. The point is to accept things that I produce and allowing them to exist at least in documentation here if nothing else. So I'm letting this drawing go and thinking upward and onward.

Started thinking about nurture versus nature and emotions versus logic. Sometimes it feels like we push one out of the way in order to attain an intangible desire.

I got this idea for a portrait with peppers stuffed in someone's mouth while riding the train yesterday and starting off into space. Only now while browsing did I realize it's reminiscent (but not really) of Matthew Barney's Cremaster. It's interesting how most ideas are not original at all. We share a collective memory of a collective life.

A minimalist drawing sprouted a pig and a brain. I'd like to say I know why. In any case, happy Friday!

Bought a new gouache yesterday and couldn't wait to use it! Took to illustrating a skull from memory and continued on with cosmic dots.

I started this watercolor in a different direction and ended with the California Northern Flicker. I love how patterns are so therapeutic to create.

Watercolors are certainly becoming my favorite medium especially on days like today. A dribbling heart poised in mind.

I had to draw this striking Swedish crofter I found through the Commons. Splashing ink mixed with color pencil is definitely becoming my favorite combo. Happy Thursday!

I found this beautiful photograph by Matthieu Paley of a man drinking salty yak milk tea. This is my illustrative take on the image.
