Edelweiss Cardenas is an emerging artist originally from Chicago and a 2009 BFA graduate of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has held internships with the Museum of Contemporary Photography and the Terra Museum of American Art and was an artist mentor for Arts of Life. She has also worked as curatorial assistant at the Roger Brown Study Collection and as an art facilitator at Magical Minds Studio. She was the recipient of the Presidential Merit Scholarship, and she spent the summer of 2007 in Prague for a special artist residency. In 2008 she produced a commissioned art piece for the W. K. Kellogg Foundation. She has exhibited her work in the Marwen galleries, the National Museum of Mexican Art, and Murphy Hill Gallery. In January of 2010, Edelweiss had her first solo exhibition of paintings and drawings at the Living Room Gallery in Chicago. The summer of 2010 Edelweiss participated in a group show called Art In The Time Of Plagiarism to support the The Plagiarists group in Chicago. Soon after arriving in New York Edelweiss held a solo show of new paintings and drawings at Red Horse Cafe in Brooklyn in November of 2010. Most recently Edelweiss has been working in mosaic arts at the Cheryl Hazan Studio. Edelweiss lives and works in New York City.
