Day 35

I started the drawing upside down but a quarter of the way through it felt right to turn it upside down. Can't believe how long it has been since I worked on a patterned piece like this. I felt so much nostalgia for my days in college studying with Barbara Rossi and Karl Wirsum. They were part of the Chicago Imagists group and continue to be amazing people and artists. Their way of thinking and nurturing other artists really opened up my eyes and (as cli·chéd as this may sound) freed me. In any case, if the documentary based on them is playing near you, I definitely recommend checking it out.
