This is a failed attempt and I wasn't going to post it. However, I had to remind myself that part of the purpose of this project is to not stop the process because a drawing doesn't come out perfect or in the way I envisioned. The point is to accept things that I produce and allowing them to exist at least in documentation here if nothing else. So I'm letting this drawing go and thinking upward and onward.

I got this idea for a portrait with peppers stuffed in someone's mouth while riding the train yesterday and starting off into space. Only now while browsing did I realize it's reminiscent (but not really) of Matthew Barney's Cremaster. It's interesting how most ideas are not original at all. We share a collective memory of a collective life.

I had to draw this striking Swedish crofter I found through the Commons. Splashing ink mixed with color pencil is definitely becoming my favorite combo. Happy Thursday!

It had been some time since I drew a portrait in person. While studying, my friend let me draw him which I thought would provide a good and steady pose. But I forgot how much one actually moves around when reading and taking notes. Ha! Never the less it was a fun drawing.

I used an imprint from the previous drawing as a base here. Since I have felt pretty restrained by my head as of late I'm leaning toward more brusque strokes. Inspired by constellations I drew with my eyes closed, voyages I dream of taking, and colors I yearn for this Spring. Happy Friday!

After watching Lulu Miller's Creative Morning's talk I decided to take on some of her tips. You can say this is my brain yodeling to the paper and I'm glad it happened. When I started the drawing I was too attached to the original photograph I had found. Now you can see traces of this initial drawing but it's more like a trail a mouse would leave in the snow.

I had an impromptu drawing session today, drawing on my friend, Kirsten's journal cover. It's a portrait of her dog, Bailey. Turns out he dislocated a disc so it's especially meaningful today. Wishing a quick recovery for this cute pup!

I started this a few weeks ago and was hesitant about where to go with it. Realizing this was weighing me down I decided to splash and swirl some marks. It's not my favorite but from this drawing I did find new shapes to use in the future.

After researching a bit more on the Tarahumara people yesterday I felt a sense of relief and let go. I started this drawing without thought or fear. It is and onward I go.
