I can't believe it's been 40 days since I began this project. It's been great thus far. Pushing myself everyday to produce at least one drawing no matter what (even when the result is not ideal) has taught me patience, discipline and humility. Looking back at each drawing I can remember details of each day and the emotions that I carried then really did come out in what I created. Here's a reflection on volcanoes and imagined landscapes.

I started the drawing upside down but a quarter of the way through it felt right to turn it upside down. Can't believe how long it has been since I worked on a patterned piece like this. I felt so much nostalgia for my days in college studying with Barbara Rossi and Karl Wirsum. They were part of the Chicago Imagists group and are just amazing people and artists.

This is a super quick sketch of an anglerfish. It's terrifying (from my perspective) the way they mate here, but fascinating all the same. Definitely will revisit this and take more time on a watercolor. :)

While browsing deep sea creatures, I came across the glass squid. It's a beautiful creature that is mostly transparent with a few spots of color used as camouflage. Some of them strike me as human skulls that have morphed into sea creatures. So amazing to see how life is so varied.
